Cocao Hazelnut Oatmeal

I was recently in Berlin and found lots of cheap, exciting products at their totally vegan supermarket chain, Veganz. There was no way I was coming back to America empty handed with just the memory of all the dope finds, so I packed some essentials in my suitcase including vegan Nutella, hazelnut milk, and quinoa puffs. I woke up this morning migraine-free (hallelujah!) and able to make the breakfast I was dreaming of making while lying in my dark room praying the pain away. Cocao Hazelnut Oatmeal! It’s basically an excuse to eat Nutella first thing in the morning ;) I cooked the oatmeal with my smuggled hazelnut milk until it got creamy then added raw cocao powder and agave. Then I topped the bowl with strawberries, cocao nibs, my beloved quinoa puffs, and of course, a spoonful of vegan Nutella :)

Cocao Hazelnut Oatmeal

Total Time: 15 minutes

Cocao Hazelnut Oatmeal

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup certified gluten-free oatmeal
  • 1 Cup water
  • 1 Cup hazelnut milk
  • 1 Tablespoon raw cacao powder
  • Agave
  • Cocao nibs
  • Quinoa puffs
  • Sliced strawberries
  • Vegan nutella

Instructions

Bring water to a boil and add the oatmeal. Stir until the water is fully absorbed. Then lower the heat and add the hazelnut milk and cocao powder. Stir slowly until the milk and cocao powder is incorporated with the oatmeal and you have a smooth, creamy oatmeal texture.

Give the oatmeal a little taste. I decided to add about a teaspoon of agave nectar to mine :)

Place the sweetened oatmeal in a bowl and top with cocao nibs, quinoa puffs, strawberries and vegan nutella.
