Brussels Sprouts are here to stay. I used to HATE them as a kid, crying when my Mom would make them for us. The problem was not with the Sprout, the problem was in my dear Mom’s preparation. By adding rich, sweet Maple Syrup and a spicy bite to these fried Brussels Sprouts, it’s ensuring that you will actually ENJOY them ;)
Maple Roasted Brussels Sprouts
- 15-20 Brussels Sprouts
- 1/4 Cup Maple Syrup
- Olive Oil
- Salt, Black Pepper, Red Pepper Flakes
Rinse and drain the Brussels Sprouts. Cut the stem off of each one then cut in half.
In a cast iron skillet, coat the bottom with Olive Oil and a generous amount of Salt and Black Pepper. Then place each halved Sprout face down in the bottom of the skillet. Turn heat on the medium.
Let the Brussels Sprouts cook for 4-6 minutes or until the bottoms are golden brown and crispy. Add about an 1/8 Cup of water and cover for another 2 minutes.
Remove from heat and pour the Maple Syrup over the tops and a dash of Red Pepper Flakes (the spicier the better!). Keep covered until you are ready to serve!
